They are believed to have come to a halt following a series of large-scale raids

KUALA LUMPUR – Business activities involving GlSB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) in the country are believed to have come to a halt following a series of large-scale raids conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under Op Global phases 1 to 4, which commenced early this month.

During these operations, PDRM froze 138 bank accounts belonging to GISB, seizing over RM800,000 in funds. A total of 22 vehicles valued at about RM1.87 million and 14 properties were also seized, severely affecting the company’s operations.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said nearly all GISB-related premises nationwide are now non-operational. The police are urging former GISB members and their victims to come forward with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Razarudin also noted a significant decline in public trust towards GISB, following revelations from authorities and disclosures by a social media account alleging the organisation is involved in cult activities, leading to disruptions in GISB’s network.

The police are currently focusing on tracking down financial transactions and assets linked to GISBH through investigations involving detained individuals and intelligence gathered, he said.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured that the government will ensure PDRM conducts a thorough and transparent investigation into GISB’s activities.

He said this includes the need for the 542 children under the age of 18, currently placed in temporary shelters, to get access to welfare services, counselling, spiritual guidance and education until the investigations conclude.

Anwar also called upon GISB members and supporters, both in Malaysia and abroad, who are not under investigation, to reach out to authorities to resolve any issues they may face.

In Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his deep concern regarding the alleged abuse and neglect of children associated with GISB, questioning the organisation’s understanding of the rights of children that must be upheld and respected.

During a Friday sermon titled ‘Why Does GISB Treat Children This Way?’, delivered in mosques across Selangor, His Royal Highness reminded the community that children are a trust from Allah SWT, deserving protection and care.

In Pahang, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state government will fully leave it to the authorities regarding enforcement actions and investigations linked to GISB individuals and premises.

Meanwhile, in Perak, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad is scheduled to present a comprehensive report on GISB’s activities in the state to Sultan Nazrin Shah soon, and said that 55 children have been rescued from GISB-run charity homes since the launch of Op Global.

In Kelantan, the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court today allowed a three-day remand extension against four individuals to assist with the GISB investigation.

The police launched Op Global on Sept 11, targeting 20 charity homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan linked to GISB, amid allegations of child exploitation and deviant religious teachings.

Since then, over 300 individuals, including senior management at GISBH, have been arrested, while 572 victims were rescued. – September 27, 2024
