PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has identified several social media accounts and individuals linked to a viral video of a stage performance that allegedly insults the institution of the Malay Rulers and the Rukun Negara.

In a statement today, MCMC said an initial review found that the recording originated from a 2018 stage performance and has since resurfaced on social media.

“MCMC is also working with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police to complete the investigation, including matters related to digital evidence,” the statement read.

The public has been advised against speculating or spreading unverified information about individuals linked to the video, to prevent the investigation from being disrupted.

Earlier, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang urged the police and MCMC to conduct an immediate and thorough probe into the stage performance video, and take appropriate action if any laws are violated, taking into account all relevant legal provisions. – September 19, 2026
