KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested a Myanmar national suspected of fatally stabbing his ex-wife at a condominium in Setapak yesterday.

The incident occurred at Genting Court Condominium in broad daylight, where the victim, also a Myanmar citizen, was found unconscious after she was believed to have been stabbed.

Footage showing the victim lying on the ground after the attack has since gone viral on social media.

The video has garnered thousands of views and has been widely reshared across various platforms, with netizens calling for answers over the incident.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said officers rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call from members of the public.

“Police were alerted to a woman found unconscious at the location, believed to have been stabbed by a man,” he said in a statement today.

He said the suspect was detained at the scene shortly after police arrived.

“Preliminary investigations found that the suspect is the victim’s former husband. A weapon believed to have been used in the incident was also seized,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect was brought before the Magistrate’s Court today and was remanded for seven days until April 30 to assist in the investigation.

A post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital confirmed that the victim died from stab wounds to the chest.

“Police view the case seriously and assure that investigations will be carried out in a thorough, professional and transparent manner,” he said.

He added that firm action would be taken in accordance with the law.

Members of the public with information related to the case have been urged to contact the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters or the Kuala Lumpur police hotline to assist investigations. — April 24, 2026
