King, Queen express condolences to family on demise of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah

Royal couple prays for fortitude for the Mahathir family as Malaysia mourns the iconic former First Lady

KUALA LUMPUR – His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia today expressed their condolences on the passing of the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

In a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page, Their Majesties prayed that the deceased be blessed by Allah SWT and placed among the righteous and the faithful.

Their Majesties also prayed that the family of the deceased be granted strength, fortitude, and patience in facing the loss of their loved one.

Dr Siti Hasmah, the wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning.

News of her passing was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, when contacted by Bernama today.

Dr Siti Hasmah breathed her last at the age of 100 and is survived by seven children. – September 28, 2026
